Newcastle pupils leave messages to their school

Newcastle High School for Girls pupils marked the midway point of a major development by leaving inspirational slogans on the building’s beams. Pupils at a prestigious school marked the halfway point in a multimillion development with a special project.

On Tuesday pupils from Newcastle High School for Girls and pupils were invited to write messages on pillars of the new £11m buildings at the school, in Jesmond.

Wates Construction are behind the development, having been awarded an £11 million contract by the Girls’ Day School Trust to remodel the school’s iconic Victorian buildings at Tankerville Terrace and construct a new 3,625 sq m three-storey school building. The development follows the merger of Central Newcastle High School and Church High School to create Newcastle High School for Girls.

Through our long term partnership with Wates Group, we are proud to have 2 local apprentices working on the site – Conal Wade (Level 3 Technical Apprentice), who has recently celebrated his 18th Birthday and Amy Lawson (Level 3 Business Administration).
