A nomination for Aiden as we celebrate Construction in South Yorkshire

Friday 13th October saw the Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards. Held at the Cutlers’ Hall, Sheffield, it was once again a glitzy event and we were thankful to Kier Construction Northern for inviting us along. It was also a proud day as our very own Aiden Twigg, currently on placement with NPS Barnsley, who was nominated for Young Trainee of the Year!

Now on this occasion Aiden didn’t see Friday 13th being lucky for him, but we are (and we hope he is) extremely proud of his achievements so far. Though the gong for Young Trainee of the Year didn’t go to Aiden, we want to say congratulations to Lydia at Henry Boot Construction. All those shortlisted within the category were extremely well deserving.

Talking to Aiden at the event about his nomination, Aiden commented:

“Having never been to an awards evening like this before I couldn’t help but feel over-dressed when I left my house. On arrival though I realised I wasn’t and this is part of the show!

“Being shortlisted was a great honour, and although not winning was a bit disappointing, I am proud of my achievements so far and the nomination in itself was recognition of that.

“I will continue to put my all into my work and studies and hopefully next time I will be standing here saying I won!”

On behalf of Futureworks (Yorkshire), our Operations Manager Julie Deeley added:

“Competition as always was strong, and getting a nomination in itself is a massive achievement and demonstrates Aiden’s skills, progress and abilities are not going unmissed. No doubt this will encourage Aiden to further succeed as he progresses in his apprenticeship, and ultimately his career.

“The evening itself was fantastic and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Seeing so many companies, organisations and people within the industry getting recognised was a privilege. And it was even better to see some of our very own business supporters gaining nominations too, as well as walking away with Awards.”

Well done to all the winners and nominees… you have all done yourselves proud!
