We are pleased to welcome Karen Newton to the Futureworks (Yorkshire) family of apprentices as she begins her Business Administration Apprenticeship, working with the Waterton Academy Trust.
Karen will be starting work on Monday, as part of the Work2Learn initiative developed by Wakefield College, Minsthorpe Community College and ourselves.
Waterton Academy Trust is the first purely primary multi academy trust, based in Wakefield. The trust was established in September 2014, with Walton Primary Academy becoming the first academy member. They are currently supporting a number of local primary schools with their conversion applications and envisage their family to grow significantly during the next year. Their aim is to develop a group of exceptional primary academies that is uncompromising in its intention to deliver excellence across its primary academy chain.
The Work2learn initiative looks to support local apprentices within local schools in the Wakefield district. Karen’s apprenticeship will be delivered by the team at Wakefield College.
The Trust are very forward thinking in their need to ‘grow their own team’ and see this position with Karen as the first step. It’s a great opportunity.
Karen was looking to take a change in direction in her career, and thus decided to go down the apprenticeship route proving that apprenticeships can suit people of all ages.
We are very happy to have her on board and wish her every success.
